My visit to D.O.C - Department of Caffeine
After spending two hours plus with Jun Yi walking around at S.E.A Aquarium, Sentosa, I was really, really hungry. Not knowing our ways in Singapore, I didn't dare to take the bus as I wouldn't know where we should alight. He didn't know either, haha. So we decided to hail a cab (which was of course much more convenient but more expensive) and told the taxi driver to bring us to Department of Caffeine (D.O.C) at Duxton Road, Singapore. And how did I manage to find out about this cafe? Well, I searched for the best dessert place in town and D.O.C was top on the list. The waffles were highly recommended!

After about 10 mins from Resort World, we finally arrived at D.O.C. The moment I opened the door to enter, I could see the waiters & waitresses walking around to serve the customers. The place was packed, one guy came and ask us if we made reservations and I said no. I was actually kinda worried there weren't any seats for us but luckily there was one empty table left. I already knew what to order before the menu was given to me. Waffles of course! Jun Yi ordered the 8 HR Pulled pork. I decided to take photos of the surrounding while waiting for our food to be served.

Jun Yi's 8 HR Pulled Pork arrived in no time.

Despite its 'messy' presentation, it was certainly good. I was left wanting for more after taking a bite. The next time I return to this cafe, I'm definitely ordering this. (Y)

After waiting for 20 mins, I got a little impatient. What's taking my waffles so long?! Then I looked around and realized every table actually ordered waffles too. Just as I was about to ask how long more do I need to wait, the waiter served the buttermilk waffles to my table.

So what's so great about this highly raved waffles? It tasted heavenly. Crispy on the outside, soft & fluffy on the inside. The buttermilk waffles tasted different, unlike the usual ones I had in Malaysia. The maple syrup, bananas & huge scoop of vanilla ice cream complemented well with it. I enjoyed every single bite!

After finishing our meals, we sat and chatted awhile before leaving to Gardens by the Bay. I'll probably come back here after trying out other different cafes in Singapore! It's time for cafe hopping ;)

S.Wine Cafe @ Publika Solaris Dutamas

I'm finally writing a post again! And this time I would like to talk about my trip to S.Wine @ Publika which was actually about a month ago. I had stuffs to do & settle in between... yeah, that's about it.

My friend drove me to Publika again the next day after my trip to Estilo and this time I requested to dine at S.Wine due to the good reviews I've heard about it. My friend was supportive of the idea, we actually took quite some time to find the location of the shop. I would say it's well hidden, lol.

The moment we entered the shop, I noticed the waiters & waitresses all looked serious, to be frank, a bit of smile wouldn't hurt. *sigh* The waiter brought us to our seats & gave us the menus. I merely scanned through it because I already knew what I wanted to order. FRENCH TOAST! I've always wanted to try their French toast because I heard how good it was. French toast is one of my favourite btw. My friend looked like he had a hard time choosing so he opt for pancakes instead.

My lovely 'French Toast' arrived in 10 - 15 mins time. I could smell it from afar (I'm not lying) & it smelled really good. My tummy was already growling by that time. Love at the beautiful presentation. Two slices of French toast served with grilled bananas, bacons and a chunk of peanut butter with a drizzle of maple syrup. I should put it this way - it is the perfect combination. The toast was soft & fluffy, bacons were really crispy, and nothing goes wrong when peanut butter + grilled bananas meet. I was smiling the whole time because it tasted heavenly. My friend literally laughed at my expression.

Here's my friend's 'pancakes'. I don't know how good it is as I did not try it but according to my friend, it was good as well. The portion looked pretty small but I believe it's quite filling.

My trip here was definitely worth it and I'm coming back for more. I can't get over how delicious the French toast was! Now thinking about it while updating this blog makes me hungry... It's alright, I'm gonna munch on some honey roasted macadamia nuts all the way from Gold Coast.

Estilo Spanish Tapas Bar & Charcoal Grill @ Publika
[ 3rd June 2014 ]

Exam is officially over and I've been craving for good Spanish food. Tried several places but the food served were mediocre, and I have always loved paella ( a Valencian rice dish ). If you have not eaten paella, YOU DEFINITELY MUST TRY IT. I came across Estilo Spanish Tapas bar & Charcoal Grill @ Publika while searching for Spanish restaurants and decided to give it a try since the reviews are good!

My friend and I went there for dinner because he knows I've been craving for paella for God-knows-how-many-months, lol. I love the setting of the shop as it was cosy and the lightings were perfect. The waiters there were really friendly and I'm glad that the service was good. We ordered Paella Estilo alongside with two tapas - Gambas Al Ajillo & Piquillos Rellenos de Bacalao. Tapas are small Spanish savoury dishes. I ordered apple & blueberry juice but to my disappointment, the blueberries were out of stock. :<

The first tapas arrived in no time. It was sizzling hot and it smelled really good the moment the waiter placed it right in front of us. How about the taste? Yeah, it was as good as how it smelled. I was glad that I didn't make the wrong choice.

We waited approximately 20 minutes for our paella to be served. When the paella was served, *inserts heavy breathing meme here*, I couldn't wait to stuff the rice into my mouth. When I finally tasted it after taking a shot of the paella, it literally WOW-ed me. It was flavourful, unlike the ones I've tried before which were a tad tasteless. This rice was moist and bursting with flavours. I couldn't stop scraping the rice from the pan.

The second tapas was Piquillos Rellenos de Bacalao. Red peppers stuffed with mashed potatoes and codfish. The fillings were good but I didn't really like the red peppers though. My friend found it OK.

It is a nice place to chill and hang out! Will definitely come back for more for the paella and tapas. :D

It's a burger kind of night.
Walked pass Good Friends Cafe and frowned when I saw the sign 'closed'.

'So where are we heading for dinner tonight?' My mum asked. I merely shrugged. That's when she suggested pork burger and I'm like OH YES PLEASE. Why didn't that cross my mind?!

It's been a long time since I last had pork burger, I guess it was approximately one year ago. I got all hyped and excited at the thought of it. BURGERTORY here I come!

It was close to 7 pm when my parents and I decided to head to the shop. As we opened the door, BAM, it was so crowded. We actually had to queue up to get our table. The arrangement of the seats was bench like so yeah, I felt kinda weird sharing table with strangers. Haha 😜

The waitress told us to order while waiting to be seated. I scanned through the whole menu and the term 'Porky Nest' caught my attention. My mum and I decided to share as we weren't hungry and we knew that we wouldn't be able to finish one whole burger itself. My dad patted my back and said, 'Hey, help me order Skippy Bacon!'. That was actually one of my choice but my mum doesn't fancy peanut butter.

The moment I looked at the 'ADD-ON' menu, I immediately knew what I wanted. Cheesy bacon bits fries! It sounded tempting enough. And the other day I was just telling my friend I wanna eat fries topped with cheese and bacon... Coincidence isn't it?

We didn't have to wait so long before we got a table for 3. The waiter served us our 'cheesy bacon bits fries' (RM 13) and I literally went WOW. The amount of bacon bits with cheese on top of the fries in idk what sauce... Simply amazing. It smelled so good :9 and as usual I'm the "Asian-at-work", my phone camera has to 'eat' first before anyone touches the food.

The Porky Nest (RM 15) arrived awhile later. Look at how high it is! The soft bun, interesting wire meshed potatoes, juice pork patty which gives you the OOMPH the moment you bite on it. What's not to love?

And that's the Skippy Bacon (RM 18) which my dad ordered! My dad cut a portion for me to try but sadly, the portion he gave me didn't have any peanut butter. The burger he ordered might be more expensive than ours but the portion is definitely smaller. Well, bacons ain't cheap.

Words can't describe how satisfied I was with the dinner. Definitely coming back for more with my friends next time! This shop is a treasure in SS15.

Dinner @ The Balcony Bar & Restaurant ;)

Heh, had my dinner at The Balcony Bar & Restaurant ( it's already stated on the menu ) last night! Was searching for places to eat and I've decided to try out this restaurant since my friend & I couldn't decide on the places.

Only a few tables were occupied when we entered the restaurant. Totally love the ambience here! Oops, I took photo of the lamp out of boredom lol.

I've decided to take some photos while waiting for our food to arrive......

The drinks we ordered : Iced mocha, hazelnut latte & chocolate hazelnut. Apparently the chocolate hazelnut didn't taste good, well I don't know since I did not try it.

I ordered this - grilled chicken chop with mushroom sauce ( RM 19.90 ) ! The portion was too big for me, had to give some to my friend. The chicken was grilled to perfection and the sauce went well with it :) Beneath the chicken was a generous amount of mashed potato which was really yummy. Overall this dish was good ;}

This is what my friend ordered... Pork carbonara ( RM 19.90 ) ` the portion on the other hand was really little, we were expecting a larger portion for that price. It tasted good as well! Luckily I couldn't finish my chicken chop, he had to eat some of it to fill his tummy. HAHA

A picture of both of us wearing the BA-D shirt. And the word actually means buddy! BA..........D, did you get it? :)

His serious face while reading the menu... LMAO. He's so tan after the numerous hours of march past training.

Another serious face of his... What. Anyway they have a few 'Mr. Right' and 'Mrs. Always Right' pillows at the cushion area. :D

Just me being Mrs. Always Right, I'm never wrong...... Kay I just cracked a lame joke.

Everything about this restaurant - from the ambience to the service to the food, is good. Will definitely come back again :)

Post trials outing ` gastronomical adventure.

My #OOTD a few weeks back! White tube top matched with my favourite lavender maxi skirt, hehe :p
( Didn't have any 'ootd' pic of myself for today, so yeah :x )

Was looking forward to today so badly as it's the last day of trial exam, after TWO LONG WEEKS. I was literally dreading over the exam, burning the midnight oil - sigh, I really, really, really should be more hardworking. Last minute work doesn't help me :'(
Anyway back to today, my friend picked me up to Bangsar to have brunch together, and guess where we headed to?! MILK AND BUTTER ! A place I've always wanted to dine in due to the pictures that I've seen on Instagram, lol.

My friend drove round searching for carpark but to no avail and ended up parking in Bangsar Village II. Thank goodness it was just walking distance as I'm not so used to wearing heels, oops :-/

To my surprise, the shop was literally empty when we entered. So we chose a cozy spot to enjoy our meals!

Decided to take a picture of this flower after ordering our food. Pretty isn't it? ;)

Ordered green tea and it's served with two cookies. The cookies tasted good but the size was miserable, lol. Ain't complaining though, HAHA.

My food was served after about 15 mins wait? I ordered the 'Pan Seared Barramundi' ( RM 27 ) served with sauteed mushrooms, spinach and lemon butter sauce. I definitely loved it!
Everything was cooked to perfection --- the sauce was amazingly good. The portion is just nice for a small eater like me, for big eaters, you might wanna think twice. This dish is highly recommended :)

'Herbes de Provence Chicken Breast' ( RM 24 ) ordered by my friend! This portion would probably be enough for big eaters, or probably not, well I'm not too sure =/
There's corn and capsicum beneath the chicken breast with salad dressings at the side. I thought the sauce went well with everything but my friend found it sweet. Well, different people, different opinion right?

A satisfying meal makes me a happy person! Totally enjoyed the meal today and looking forward to more food hunting adventures =D
